A promise is a promise.

I promised my loyal followers on facebook (which would not include my sister Rachel, who will log on to facebook the same day she'll send a text, read Twilight, or in any way endorse women's beach volleyball. Rachel is very principled. And funny.) that I would blog tonight. And since it has been decreed on facebook, it will inevitably happen. (For more insight on how facebook is taking over the world, or at least my cousin's subconscious, go here. While you're there, read everything else. She's hilarious.)

Anyway, as previously stated, I got a job. This means I finally convinced someone with money that they should give me some. Thanks to being employed, I can go to the doctor whenever I want, and have my teeth cleaned twice a year. Also, when I want to not go to work for a day, they still pay me. It's a pretty sweat deal.

I work for an insurance broker, designing communications pieces for when they sell benefits packages to companies. Perhaps the following video will help explain.

Now, there are a lot of golden nuggets here, not the least of which are my boyfriend Jim's thoughts on his career goals. But the main point is that Dunder Mifflin could benefit from hiring an insurance broker. Did you see that stack of books Dwight grabbed so eagerly? I can whittle that down to an eight-page brochure. Because I'm that good. (Okay, someone else does the whittling, but I make it look good.)

So there you have it. That's my job in a nutshell. It's a really great gig for the next few years. So don't worry, I have no plans of throwing myself in front of a train any time soon. And that's only partly because the nearest train is 4 blocks away, and I don't think I'd be able to make it there and back on my lunch break.

I wish I were as principled as Rachel is. I've done all of the things that she won't do. (Although I don't endorse the wardrobe of women's beach volleyball players.) At any rate, I'm glad you blogged. It brightened my day.

You forgot to mention that, as a highly principled woman, I will also never use the word "text" as a verb. Remember that. Remember.

Congrats! I need someone to think those things about me too! Can we say "insurance"? Please?

congrats on the whole, "getting someone with money to give you some" thing. :)

welcome to the world of post-college employment.
